Tawny Owls

Welcome to Year 4!

We are Tawny Owls class. Miss Stephens is the class teacher and Mrs Hawkes is our Teaching Assistant who helps us with our learning. We are also taught French by Mrs Albert and P.E. by Ignite Sports.

Housekeeping

To ensure children are safe when they come into school in the mornings, we ask that you leave your child at the cloakroom. If you need to speak to your child's class teacher, please send in a message or contact the school office and we will contact you to arrange this. Many thanks for your cooperation on this matter.

P.E. lessons will be taught on Mondays with IGNITE - please ensure P.E. kits are in school all week and include the correct kit (navy t-shirt and shorts/trousers and warm top). Year 4 will be swimming all year. The lessons will take place on a Tuesday morning and your child will require a costume and hat. Goggles are optional and consent will need to given if they are to be worn. If your child is unable to particpate in lessons, please send in a note to explain.

There are daily opportunities for children to read in school, in addition to weekly guided reading sessions with the class teacher. However, please encourage your child to read at home as this will help with their fluency, pace of reading and provide opportunities to widen their vocabulary, which will help develop their writing.

Throughout Winter, please ensure that your child has a warm, waterproof coat, hat and gloves. When wet, your child can wear wellies but also needs school shoes to wear during the school day - thank you.

Homework

Weekly Mathletics homework - set on a Monday and is due to be completed by the following Monday morning.

Reading, preferably to an adult for 15 minutes a day - children will bring home an appropriate book based on thier ZPD level.

Parent Volunteers

If you have an hour to spare during the afternoon, we would like to invite you to read with our children. Your time will be greatly appreciated.
