Langford Village School - Foundation Stage Unit (FSU) Uniform Policy

Langford Village School has a school uniform policy; all pupils attending are expected to wear our uniform and parents are asked to support this approach.

We believe that school uniform is important as it plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of the school.  It instils pride, supports positive behaviour and discipline; ensures pupils from all backgrounds feel welcome, nurtures cohesion and promotes good relations between different groups of pupils.  A school uniform readily identifies children with the school when they are out and about in the community and on school trips.

We also believe that school uniform supports effective teaching and learning and good behaviour.  A uniform reinforces an ethos in which the school is viewed as a working environment rather than a social environment.

Our FSU school uniform is as follows:

We use Tapestry to record observations, comments and photos to show progress across the Early Years Foundation Stage, this will compliment other forms of observation and assessment already in place. The observations will not be a daily occurrence and Tapestry will be used when we find that capturing your child's learning through photographs and videos is the best way to show their progress.

The Early Years Curriculum outlines areas in Nursery generally from 22-36 months leading in to Reception starting from around 30-50 months up to an Early Learning Goal. Please do not worry if you see your child's range of observations above or below these guidelines, this will simply be related to the observation we have carried out and variants in the observations should be expected.

You will be able to access your child's learning journey via the 'Tapestry' App on mobile devices or the website; you will only be able to access this by using the log in details that will be sent to you shortly after the electronic return of the user agreement, please allow for our set up time (and check your spam folder regularly!)

This will only give you access to your own child's observations and photographs, please do not share your log in details. The only other people with access to your child's observations will be the staff members of the FSU Team, who will be responsible for managing your child's learning journey with school laptops and tablet devices. A staff user policy and agreement is in place and covers the use of staff working at school and at home, on the given work laptop and tablet device only.

Many of the most meaningful photographs taken in the FSU show children interacting in group play or activities with their peers, we therefore ask that these photos are for your own viewing and not shared publicly or uploaded onto any social media websites, failing to up hold this request will result in suspending your child's online learning journey. We also ask that if you become aware of this happening to please inform Mrs. Tomlin immediately.

We hope that this system will prove to be a positive step in sharing information; you will also be able to add comments, photos and videos of your own in response to your child's work. When adding photos or videos to your child's learning journey, we ask that photos or videos only include your child or other children that you have permission to publish.

We hope you enjoy the learning journey your child encounters through the Early Years, at the end of your child's time in our FSU, their Learning Journal will be downloaded and you will recieve a copy via the email address you used when filling in the Tapestry form.

If your child is 'new' to Langford Village School please fill in the Tapestry form (link below).  If your child is currently attending our Nursery there is no need to fill it in again, thank you.

Term dates

Please note that at the end of term before Christmas, Easter, and the Summer holidays, Nursery will close the day before the rest of school. This is to enable us to ensure we offer the same sessions both morning and afternoon Nursery children.
