What is Girls Football club?
Year 5 & 6 girls football club will be run after school by Miss Torkington. The aim of the club is to develop your child's teamwork and spirit, whilst improving their footballing ability and skills. The children who show good commitment and attitude will also be part of Langford's highly successful teams, which are part of the Bicester Primary School Leagues.
This year we are hoping to enter two teams in the girls only league. The first week will act as a type of 'trials', so we can look at how we will organise the children amongst the squads - Langford Girls A & Langford Girls B. Some children may be required to play across more than one. We will inform the children of which squad they will represent, when the league matches commence later in the year - which can be any time from October to May (more information about the leagues and matches will come out in due course).
Parents of children attending Football club will be asked to assist with transport to away fixtures.
In recent years, as a school, we have won several league trophies and have been involved in many finals. We would certainly love to continue this excellence in sport! Each year, this club has been a pleasure to run, and we hope this will continue for another year.
Who can attend Girls Football club?
Any girls in years 5 & 6 can attend, priority however will go to those girls who attended Girls Football Club in the Summer Term.
Where and when is Girls Football club?
Football will be held on Tuesdays after school, starting from Tuesday 17th September 2024 each week up until Tuesday 10th December 2024. Should the evenings become too dark we may pause the club earlier but will communicate this to parents. Training will then resume in January (date TBC) and will stop running when the season ends at the Easter Break (2025). Please note that where a home match is taking place on a Tuesday for either the girls or the boys teams, there will be no training that week. Training will usually continue if an away game is being played by one of out teams, however we will update you if this is any different. Weekly training will take place on the school field and run from 3:15 - 4:30. Children will go directly to the club at the end of the school day and parents will need to collect from the school field at 4.30pm (unless your child is in year 6 and consent is given for them to walk home). If collecting, please enter the school via the gate near Cygnets Pre School.
What do I need?
Pupils should come to school in their school PE kit on the day of Football club. Your child must bring with them appropriate football boots and shin pads, along with 'weather appropriate' kits, such as jumpers, thermals, waterproof layers. The children can also bring a healthy snack and water for hydration. They will not be allowed to play in trainers and without shin pads.
How do I sign up?
Girls Football Club is currently full, if your child would like a place in this club, please complete the below waiting list form and we will be in touch should a place become available for them.
