Welcome to Hawks Class! Mrs Garraway is the class teacher. Year 5 Support Staff: Mrs Brown, Mrs Rogers, Mrs Vasudevan, Mrs Hollo, Miss Eaves
All children will need a water bottle in class every day. Please can we ask that bottles only contain water and are clearly named. These can be refilled anytime at school.
Necessary stationery equipment will be provided in school. However, children are permitted to bring their own pens, pencils, etc. If they wish. Please ensure these not too large or excessive as they can become a distraction and need to fit into their drawers at the end of each day. These belongings are the entire responsibility of your child. Other items from home are not permitted in school to avoid unnecessary distractions.
As a school, we want to promote healthy eating. This can and will come in many forms, including a morning break time snack. Please can we remind that break time snacks must be healthy snacks only. No crisps, chocolate or sweets; these can be in lunchboxes within reason. Children will only be allowed fresh fruit, veggies, or low sugar cereal bars and snacks. Please note we are an allergy aware school - please take extra care to check foods that your child brings to school, especially those containing nuts (such as Nutella and Pesto).
In Year 5, P.E. is taught on a Wednesday. Your child will need to come to school in P.E kit and worn for the day. Earrings will be taped up, or ideally your child must not wear them on their P.E. day if this is possible. Any long hair must also be tied up. Swimming will be in terms 1, 2 and 3 (Kestrels first, then Hawks). Please also tie hair up and remove/tape earrings for this activity.
Please ensure that children come to school with the appropriate outdoor wear for the time of year, so that they can enjoy outdoor play whenever possible. This includes a sun hat - which must be in school during the summer terms - and warm coat during the winter. They should have a water-proof jacket all year. During the summer months, please apply a long-lasting sun cream before school. Children may be restricted from outdoor play without the appropriate clothing to ensure their safety and welfare.
Make up and nail varnish are not permitted. No jewellery is allowed other than stud earrings and a watch (no Smart watches). Pupils must be responsible for these items. The school cannot take responsibility for any watches or jewellery that are lost.
