We thought it would be useful to put together a ‘General Housekeeping’ document so that you have a point of reference for some of the more frequent questions we are asked. Please take a few moments to read through the information attached. This will also be posted on our website under the office tab and may be updated from time to time.
All of the topics covered in this document are designed to make the school a safer environment for our pupils and to maximise their learning and enjoyment of the school day. I would like to thank you in advance for your co-operation in these matters.

Please note that we are looking at developing a smoother process to the start of the school day and will share any ideas we have with you as they develop. However, the general timings of the school day will not change. Classrooms will continue to open at 8.40am, registers will be taken by 8.55am so that lessons can start by no later than 9am. Collection at the end of the school day will continue to be 3.15pm.
Can we also remind everyone to arrive through the playground and side gates, not through the main entrance at this busy time.
We are having an increased number of items coming into school after the children have been dropped off. Could we please ask that the children come in with all they need for the day as the office is very busy at this time in the morning. Thank you for your cooperation.
We would like to re-iterate that scooters and bikes should not be ridden anywhere on the school site. Upon entering the site pupils should walk their scooters/bikes to the appropriate racks/shed for safe keeping. Playgrounds and walkways become very busy, often with younger children also present, and we need to keep areas safe for everyone using them. As with all personal items, scooters/bikes are brought into school at your own risk and should therefore be securely locked and have identity markings where possible.
Please also note that under no circumstances should dogs be brought onto the school site (including the school field) unless by prior agreement with the school. This also extends to drop off and collection from Breakfast and After School club and after school activities.
In the interests of the safety could we please ask that you do not park on the yellow zig-zags or near to junctions at drop off and collection times. We would encourage children to walk to school whenever possible and that they use the designated crossing point with the assistance of our Lollipop Lady.
Please also respect that the school car parks are for school staff and visitors only and should not be used by parents unless by prior arrangement. Please also refrain from parking in front of the car park gates as access is required at any time of day and evening for both deliveries and emergency vehicles.
If your child is absent from school due to illness please could parents telephone school and leave a message on the answer phone (option 2) regarding the absence. Please provide your child's name, class and state what the illness is. Your messages are dealt with by the front office first thing every morning to enable us to update registers with children's absences for that day.
I have spoken at great lengths to the Health Agencies and other local schools and feel that it is time again for us to confirm a clear 48 hour protocol for all children and staff in relation to absence from school for all forms of sickness and diarrhoea, from the last episode of illness.
If you need to pay school for a trip or other activity, please could you make sure that all payments come into school in a sealed envelope with your child's name and class, the name of the trip and the amount enclosed so that we can ensure that our payment records are up to date. Please try to ensure that the exact amount is enclosed. If you do require change, please be aware that this can take a few days to process but will be available from the school office for you to collect. Unfortunately we are not able to send change home with your child and we will not be sending reminders home. Any money left uncollected at the end of every half term will be banked and used by the school as additional funds to support the children's learning.
Please ensure that all clothes, shoes and personal items are labelled with your child’s name so that any ‘mis-placed’ items can be returned to your child’s class. There are bins in each of the cloakrooms for lost property but we rely on items being labelled in order to return them to the correct year group. Any unclaimed items will be disposed of at the end of the school year.
