Welcome to Puffins class!
Reading: There are daily opportunities for children to read in school, in addition to weekly guided reading sessions with the class teacher. However, please encourage your child to read at home as this will help with their fluency, pace of reading and provide opportunities to widen their vocabulary, which will help develop their writing.
Summer: In the warmer weather please ensure your child comes to school with a sun hat.
Winter: In the colder months please ensure your child come to school with a coat. If they would like they can also bring in wellies to change into during the wetter weather.
Homework: The homework expectation in Year 2 is daily reading with an adult (please complete the red reading record).
Break time: Langford Village Community Primary School promotes healthy eating. Fruit is provided for a snack at morning playtimes, but you are welcome to send your child in with fruit from home. Please note that we are a nut free school.
Classroom: Children will need water bottles in class every day. Please ensure bottles only contain water and are labelled.
Woodlands: Children in Year 2 go to our on site Woodlands on a Thursday. At woodlands, we learn how to safely and successfully get to, and explore, the site. Children will attend a Woodlands week (alternate weeks to PE) in their woodlands clothing - a long sleeved top and long trousers, with additional weather dependent items e.g., gloves, hat etc.
P.E: The children in Year 2 will have PE on alternate Thursdays. We ask that your child comes to school on alternate Thursdays dressed in their P.E. kit.
