At Langford we use an electronic system called ‘Tapestry’ to record observations, comments and photos to show progress across the Early Years Foundation Stage and Year 1 curriculum and compliments other forms of observation and assessment. The observations are not a daily occurrence, Tapestry is used when we find that capturing your child’s learning through photographs and videos is the best way to show their progress.
You will be able to access your child's learning journey via the 'Tapestry' App on mobile devices or the website https://tapestryjournal.com; you will only be able to access this by using the log in details that will be sent to you after the return of the user agreement, please allow for our manual set up time (and check your spam folder!)
Your Tapestry account will only give you access to your own child’s observations and photographs, please do not share your login details, each family member may fill in the form to receive an account. The only other people with access to your child’s observations will be the staff members of the FSU/Y1 Teams, who will be responsible for managing your child’s learning journey. A staff user policy and agreement is in place and covers the use of staff working at school and at home, on the given work laptop and tablet device only.
In the Foundation Stage many of the most meaningful photographs taken in the FSU show children interacting in group play or activities with their peers, and in Year 1 photographs show children in group work activities we therefore ask that these photos are for your own viewing and not shared publicly or uploaded onto any social media websites, failing to uphold this request will result in suspending your online learning journey account. We also ask that if you become aware of this happening to please inform Mrs. Tomlin immediately.
We hope that this system will prove to be a positive step in sharing information; you will also be able to add comments, photos, and videos of your own in response to your child’s work. When adding photos or videos to your child’s learning journey, we ask that photos or videos only include your child or other children that you have permission to publish. At the end of your child's time using Tapestry, their Learning Journal will be made available, and you will be given instructions of how to download it to keep.
Yours sincerely,
