Tudor Day

Topic ~ Off with Her Head!

Year 5 classes enjoyed taking part in our dress up, craft day as part of the topic - 'Off with Her Head'. We created pomanders and learnt that they were used to disguise unpleasant aromas. We used oranges, cloves and ribbons to create these - the classrooms smell amazing. We also used clay to make pots for eating and drinking as well as designing Tudor Roses. We will be completing these by painting them in traditional colours. We studied Tudor houses - focusing on the houses of rich people and researched the style of gardens. We then created our own symmetrical 'knot gardens' using cress. Finally, we made our own quills and tried our hand at calligraphy.

Clay Pots and Tudor Roses - using the equipment to create their own clay pieces.
