Year 5 enjoyed learning more about Tudor times by dressing up and embarking on a day of research and crafts linked to our topic. We made quills and had a go at calligraphy followed by creating Tudor pots and Tudor Roses from clay - these will be painted once dry using traditional colours. We also made pomanders and discovered that they were used by the rich to disguise unpleasant aromas. We used cloves, oranges and ribbon - they smell amazing. We also studied the Tudor homes belonging to the wealthy. We looked at how they used symmetrical designs and this was extended to their gardens. We designed and created our own 'knot gardens'.
